Sussex County now has Delaware’s first drive-thru market. The owners of Evans Farms Produce and the Frozen Farmer said they added the feature to meet customer demand.
Owner Katey Evans said it can be hard to load eggs, milk and other family staples into a minivan packed full of kids.
"We’ve got a lot of handicapped customers and busy moms on their way to the beaches," Evans said.
It works like ordering fast food. People drive their cars over a buzzer in the back of the building, give their order and pay, all without ever getting out of the car.
She and her family own Evans Farms Produce, which added their on-farm marketplace over a decade ago.
They also own the Frozen Farmer, which offers cool dairy and non dairy treats like sorbet and ice cream, as well as frozen strawberries.
“Strawberries have a very short shelf life. The best kind of strawberries to make ice cream, nice cream and sorbet is these fresh strawberries,” she said.
Nice cream is part ice cream and part sorbet. Evans said it's a customer favorite.
Evans Farms Produce and The Frozen Farmer sit next to each other in Bridgeville on Delaware Route 404.
