Beachgoers handle hot temps in Rehoboth Beach

Tuesday brought very hot temperatures to the First State.

On the Rehoboth beach boardwalk, one thermometer had the mercury unofficially at 105 degrees in the early afternoon.

Matthew Perry and his friends drove eight hours to get to the Delaware beaches.

"It’s very hot. It’s nice though, but I mean, you need sunscreen," said Perry.

Perry added it was actually a relief to enjoy the blazing sun, because back home in Northern Pennsylvania it was cold and rainy. They said that at the beach they’d stick close to the boardwalk, where nearby shops had their air conditioners on at full blast.

Kaili Soisson works at Archie’s, a shop on the boardwalk that sells homemade lemonade. She said one good thing about the hot weather was that it was bringing in more business.

"We’ve had a lot of people be like, “this is exactly what I need.” We had samples earlier and people were like, “just a little bit to get me to my next spot,” and so it’s been really great," said Soisson.

Tuesday night's rain helped break the heat, and Wednesday’s forecast looks cooler. The high in Rebohoth is only expected to reach 82 degrees Wednesday afternoon.
