The General Assembly concluded its session earlier this week with a marathon session Monday night into Tuesday morning. The budget bills were finalized and signed by Gov. Markell and a bill to aid the state's casinos was passed.

Exit interview: Former DNREC Sec. Collin O'Mara

One area the General Assembly was fairly busy this year was confirming judicial nominees. A new Supreme Court Chief Justice and a new Court of Chancery Chancellor were among those approved by the State Senate this session.
But how seriously do lawmakers take their advise and consent role? Delaware Public Media contributor Jeff Mordock of Delaware Law Weekly took a look recently and found most confirmation hearings are not very long and rarely put nominees on the hot seat. (More)
Enlighten Me: Pipe Organ Encounter

In this week’s Enlighten Me, we take you to a camp in Delaware this week where organists of all ages and skill levels came together to learn more about the pipe organ, known as the King of Instruments since the 14th century when they were first installed in cathedrals.
Contributor Eileen Dallabrida and Delaware Public Media's Ben Szmidt visited the Pipe Organ Encounter and found that, despite waning popularity due to changing tastes in church music and their size and cost, there is still a vibrant community of organists and students eager to learn the instrument.
