UD men's soccer draws Providence in NCAA tourney

The University of Delaware men’s soccer team has its opening round assignment in the NCAA Division I tournament.

 

The Blue Hens head to Rhode Island to tangle with Providence in a first round showdown Thursday night at 7.Delaware is making its first NCAA tourney appearance since 2013 after capturing the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) title with a 2-1 win over William & Mary Sunday.

 

The Hens are 12-7-1 and unranked.

 

Providence is ranked 22nd nationally and owns a 12-6 record.

 

The winner of the UD-Providence contest gets top-ranked Maryland in round two.  

 

The Terps are 16-0-2, but Blue Hens did test them last month, taking Maryland to double overtime before losing 3-2.
