Wesley College quarterback Joe Callahan is getting a shot to play at the highest level.
Callahan is making the jump from NCAA Division III to the NFL after being signed as a free agent by Green Bay Saturday following the conclusion of the NFL Draft.
Callahan, who won Division III’s version of the Heisman Trophy – the Gagliardi Trophy - in December, says it’s a dream come true.
The 6-1 ,215 pound signal-caller threw for an NCAA Division III single–season record for 5,063 yards and 55 touchdowns last fall – leading Wesley to an 11-2 record, including its 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
He heads to Green Bay later this week for a rookie mini-camp.
