Manufacturing facility in Dover adds 140 new jobs

Edgewell

Edgewell, took over the Femcare line as part of a 2013 acquisition of Johnson & Johnson. The company consolidated its assembly operations to Dover, bringing production lines from Montreal, Canada.

The new jobs are all high-skilled technical and operator positions running automated equipment to make feminine care products.

“So, we’ve hired them. We’ve brought people in early to do training; to get them acclimated and familiar with the processes, because we are an FDA regulated site, and then get them familiar with the equipment prior to actually starting up the equipment,” said Plant Director Bill Bunn.

Bunn adds the move was prompted in part by a desire to be closer to Femcare’s main customer, Walmart.

“As with any customer you strive to work out a partnership so that you’re supplying them products. In the case of moving the business to North America, it’s really to get closer to our customer,” said Bunn.

The final new hires were added less than six months ago, and the Dover facility is now operating at full capacity.
