Slight increase for Delaware fuel prices

Delaware Public Media

After a few weeks of steep declines, First State gas prices are beginning to tick up.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports Delaware drivers will pay $1.76 for a gallon of regular on average. That’s up two pennies from last week, but still far below what stations were charging a year ago at $2.16.

Nationwide, downward trends continued to dominate, shedding six cents to close the week at $1.74.

Delawaregasprices.com reports a station in New Castle selling the cheapest gallon of regular for $1.61, with stores in all three counties advertising prices $1.67 and below.

The price of crude oil is still trading lower than what we’ve seen for years, settling at $30.89 a barrel on Friday. AAA reports worldwide stocks of crude oil broke 500 million barrels for the first time ever.

Officials there also say we should expect a slow down in plunging prices with refineries set to produce a more expensive summer blend before May 1.
