First State gas prices tick up

Delaware Public Media

Delaware gas prices inched up over the past seven days.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular rose by a penny in the last week to $2.09.

It’s still vastly cheaper that what drivers were paying a year ago at $2.73 a gallon.

Nationwide, prices at the pump also plateaued. They averaged $2.04 last week.

Delawaregasprices.com reports Dover has the cheapest regular gas in the state at $1.89 a gallon if you’re paying with cash.

Otherwise, several stations in Kent and New Castle Counties are $1.99 or less.

Crude oil prices fell below $40 a barrel as well last week, at $39.97, the first time since late August.

AAA officials say they expect retail averages to continue dropping leading into 2016, with an oversupply in crude oil and low demand in the winter.
