A group of state lawmakers wants Delmarva Power to provide customers additional information their billing statements.
22 Democrats and Republicans signed a petition asking the Public Service Commission to examine whether monthly bills should provide more detail on specific charges, including those from legislatively mandated initiatives such as Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard, Bloom Energy, and the Low Income Assistance program.
Representive John Kowalko (D-Newark South) and Senators David Lawson (R-Marydel) and Gary Simpson (R-Milford) filed the petition.
It argues the lack of specific information on bills makes it difficult to understand the impact of these various initiatives.
"Because these additional fees are not clearly disclosed on monthly billing statements, customers are in the dark regarding how much these various initiatives cost them,” the petition reads. “In order for Delmarva customers to clearly understand the financial impact of these various initiatives, their monthly bill must clearly state the cost of each one.”
12 Democrats signed the petition to the PSC along with 10 Republicans.
