Delmarva Power customers could see their electric bill go up in the near future.
The utilities company filed for a $42 million base rate increase Friday.
If approved by the Delaware Public Service Commission, customers using 1,000 kilowatt hours a month would see about a $7.60 jump in their bill.
It’s a little less than a 5.5 percent increase over current rates.
Delmarva Power says they need the money for infrastructure upgrades.
The company also recently filed for a $12.5 dollar increase to their natural gas delivery prices.
If that’s approved, customers would eventually see a total decrease for that service as natural gas prices dip due to increased supply.
