First State sees small rise in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Few new COVID-19 cases are added to Delaware’s total Wednesday.

State health officials announced just 36 new cases after three consecutive days of nearly 100 or more.

The total of positive cases in the First State since March 11th is now 11,510.

The latest data dropped Delaware’s five-day average of new cases down to 84, but the average percent of people testing positive over the past 5 days has now been above 6 percent for 3 consecutive days.

Current hospitalizations ticked up slightly from 64 to 68, with 13 people critically ill.

Delaware also reported no new COVID-19 related deaths.  The state’s death toll remains at 509.

And just under 100,000 Delawareans have tested negative for COVID-19 since March 11th.
