Driver in Rt. 1 crash dies, DSU hazing investigation continues

The driver of a car carrying four Delaware State University students involved in a weekend accident has died.

Delaware State Police report 23-year old Marlon Jackson of Townsend died Thursday from injuries sustained Saturday when the car he was driving veered over the median on Rt. 1 near Smyrna and crashed into another car.

Fellow DSU students Giovanni Downie, Marcus Dunn and Jordan Hannah were also injured and hospitalized. Downie was critically injured.  Dunn and Hannah were reported in stable condition

The driver of the other car, 27-year-old Matthew Hoffman from Pennsylvania, was also sent to the hospital and reported stable.

DSU officials are conducting an internal investigation to determine if campus hazing is linked to this accident.

 

Campus administration has suspended the fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi from all campus activities until the investigation is completed.
