Arts Playlist: 'Midnight Mass' at the Delaware Contemporary

"Midnight Mass" by Amie Potsic (Delaware Contemporary Photograph)
A new lobby installation is now on display at the Delaware Contemporary in Wilmington.

The Delaware Contemporary has a new lobby installation called Midnight Mass from Philadelphia native Amie Potsic.

And in this week's Arts Playlist, The Delaware Contemporary's Gretchen Hupfel curator of Contemporary Art Kathrine Page talks about the instillation and the artist.

Page says Potsic’s work establishes the “wow” factor that the Delaware Contemporary is looking for this year.

“Amy Potsic’s installation - it will feature her work with over 250 linear feet of silk," said Page. "And what she does is, she takes these photographs and then prints them on silk.”

Page saysthe silk is mounted on panels suspended on wires and displayed in the atrium plenum.

She says Potsic’swork not only enhances the Museum’s architecture, but it also affirms how art is intrinsically related to the existential human experience.

“It launches 2020, which is a Centennial year, that we are celebrating the whole year as the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment," said Page. "And so we are featuring a lot of female artists.”

The exhibit is on display now through April 25, 2020.

Delaware Public Media' s arts coverage is made possible, in part, by support from theDelaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
