As part of our 2020 Election coverage, Delaware Public Media is once again offering a series of Candidate Conversations.
We reached out to all candidates filed to run in the races for U.S. House and U.S. Senate, as well as Governor, Lt. Governor and Insurance Commissioner and invited them to sit down with us.
Candidates in each race are being asked about the same set of topics to allow you to get to know them and compare them.
The race for U.S. Senate features five candidates challenging the incumbent – Democrat Chris Coons.
On this episode of The Green, we hear from Sen. Coons and his Democratic primary challenger Jessica Scarane.
Coons is Delaware’s junior senator. He was first elected to this seat in 2010, earning the right to fill the remaining four years left on the term Joe Biden won in 2008 by defeating Republican Christine O'Donnell. Coons won his first full term in the U.S. Senate in 2014, defeating Republican Kevin Wade.
Scarane is making her first run for public office.
As part of our 2020 Election coverage, we are also highlighting a series of “Races to Watch” ahead on the Sept 15th Delaware Primary.
The first takes us to Brandywine Hundred where a trio of Democrats sees an opportunity to turn a red seat blue in the Delaware State Senate this fall.
Delaware Public Media contributor Mark Fowser takes a closer look at the Democratic primary in the Senate’s 5th District.
