Bacon Fest returns to Dewey Beach

Delaware bacon lovers will be flocking to the beach this weekend.

After the success of the Bacon Festival that debuted in Dewey Beach last year, bacon lovers will be getting a second helping.

The two day Dewey Beach/Rehoboth Beach Bacon Festival starts with a “Bacon Fest Bonfire” at the beach on New Orleans Street in Dewey and caps off with a “Best Bacon on the Beach” award ceremony.

The two-day bacon bacchanal will feature the meat in ice creams, beers, chocolates and more.

VIP tickets will cost $50 for the completely bacon obsessed and for the casual pig lover, general admission passes are $25, both can be purchased through iDewey.com.

Experts say our love for bacon is rooted in science thanks to the maillard reaction, which sends happy signals to our brains as the smell crosses our noses.
