Delaware Pacem in Terris is showcasing the opening of a virtual art museum.
The 53-year-old peace and justice nonprofit created the museum for its 5th annual Visionary Peace Youth Art Exhibition.
“So we reached out to various partners in the community," said Shara Smith, the group’s executive director. "We have more than 25 public, private and charter schools, as well as community organizations that participated - and working with their youth to encourage them to submit pieces for the exhibition.”
Smith says students between 5- and 18 were asked to draw, paint or create a digital image showing their vision of a peaceful world or answering the question, “what does peace look like for you?,” “You are going to see a difference in the pieces that are submitted. And the vision that gets articulated in some of the pieces - it does look very different from a 5-year-old vs an 18-year-old. But even in looking at the pieces from some of our younger participants - you see certain themes depicted.
Smith says some of those themes include inclusion and harmony.
