First State gas prices tumble further.
AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in Delaware dropped nine cents from $2.75 a week ago to $2.66. This time last year, First State drivers were paying $3.38 per gallon.
The average gas price in Delaware this week is now a dollar less than the highest recorded average in 2014 -- which was $3.68 on April 28th, according to AAA officials.
First State drivers are paying nine cents above the national average, which fell 11 cents to $2.57 this week. A year ago, the national average was $3.25. AAA officials say that drivers can expect prices to dip lower towards the New Year, but maintains it’s highly unlikely that it will fall below $2.00 per gallon.
Delawaregasprices.com reports there are nearly a dozen stations across the state selling a gallon of regular for $2.54 or slightly less – all in New Castle County. The lowest reported price is $2.50.
