Gas prices continue their mid-summer retreat in First State

The mid-summer slide in gas prices continues- with the cost First State drivers are paying at the retreating for a third straight week.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in the Delaware fell another six cents the last seven days. Sunday – the price stood at was $3.51 – down from $3.57 a week. The First State average has fallen 15 cents over the last three weeks.

Delawareans are paying seven cents below the national average, which fell four cents last week to stand at $3.58 Sunday, and 18 cents less than a year ago when the average price per gallon for regular was $3.69.

AAA officials say stable crude oil prices could keep prices down over the coming weeks.

Delawaregasprices.com reports there are over a dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $3.39 or slightly less –mainly in New Castle County.
