Former state senate candidate Eric Bodenweiser will face another trial on child sex abuse charges.
The jury in Bodenweiser’s first trial last month was unable to reach a unanimous verdict resulting in a mistrial.
A spokesman for the state’s Department of Justice says after reviewing the case it has decided to move forward and retry him.
A month ago, Judge E. Scott Bradley declared a mistrial after an eight-woman, four-man jury could not agree on whether Bodenweiser was guilty or not guilty on any of the 15 counts against him following eight hours of deliberation at Delaware Superior Court in Georgetown.
Bodenweiser won the 2012 GOP primary for the State Senate seat representing the 19th district but dropped out before the November general election.
Shortly after, the 55-year old Georgetown resident was indicted on multiple charges of child sex abuse from alleged encounters in the late 1980’s and early 90’s.
