Voters that did show up have spoken in school board elections across the state.
Turnout was low up and down the Delaware. Only two races drew more than a thousand votes and in New Castle County no race reached 600 ballots cast.
The most competitive battles were in the Capital and Cape Henlopen school districts. John Martin Jr. topped five others running for an at-large seat in the Capital district, while Alison Myers defeated four other candidates for an at-large spot on the Cape Henlopen board.
In New Castle County, Norman Abrams and Melodie Spotts won a seats in the Appoquinimink and Colonial school districts. John Young retained his seat on the Christina board. Michael Piccio took the contested seat in Red Clay.
In Kent County, Jennifer Marelli won an at-large seat in the Caesar Rodney district. Lisa Williams and Ronda Swenson were voted on to the Lake Forest board and Scot McClymont emerged victorious in the race for an at-large seat in the Smyrna school districts
In Sussex County, Douglas Hudson won a seat in Indian River school district, while Brad Lee and Steve McCarron won contested races on the Laurel and Woodbridge school districts.
