Delaware law enforcement is beefing up its DUI enforcement efforts for Super Bowl Sunday.
The Delaware Office of Highway Safety and are police will conduct over 20 scheduled DUI “patrols” Sunday. There will also be a DUI checkpoint in Wilmington.
The Highway Safety office reminds drivers to have a designated driver if they plan on drinking during the big game. First time DUI offenders in Delaware can lose their licenses for up to a year.
Delaware law enforcement saw a number of alcohol and drug related arrests last year during the NFL playoffs and Super Bowl Sunday. They made seven DUI arrests and 13 for drugs, with hundreds of citations for speeding, cell phone use and other traffic and criminal offenses.
