The third race in the Chase for NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship is on tap Sunday at Dover International Speedway
Drivers hit the Monster Mile for the “AAA 400” at 2 Sunday afternoon. Dale Earnhardt Junior won the pole Friday, but its points leader Matt Kenseth everyone is really chasing.
Kenseth has seven races this year – including the first two in the 10-race Chase for the Championship. He says he hopes to keep everyone in his rear view mirror
“If you ask me where I like to be, I like to be out front and be out front as far as you can possibly get out there. That’s the best place to be. You hope to have a lead and build on that lead," said Kenseth.
Kenseth will start on the front row with Earnhardt Junior Sunday.
Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson are second and third behind Kenseth heading into Sunday’s “AAA 400”.
Busch says at a track like the Monster Mile anything is possible.
"It's a long 400 lap race and the challenges of Dover are always there right in front of you being on the concrete surface and whatnot," said Busch. "It makes it fun, but you know to be around at the end you've got to execute everything all day."
Johnson may be the biggest threat to Kenseth this week. The five-time Sprint Cup champ owns a record tying seven career wins at Dover.
