Steady rise in average cases over the week

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The state reports a slow uptick in new coronavirus cases and seven additional related deaths this past week.

The average number of new cases was up to 111 as of Thursday. That average was at 94 just a week prior, but it is down from the 143 case-per-day average reported early this month.

The average number of people testing positive is also up to 7.2 percent from 6.1 percent the week before.

Meanwhile, statewide hospitalizations are down a bit to 58 with 17 people considered critically ill.

To date, 620 people have died from the virus in Delaware, with more than half of those being residents of long-term care facilities.

And the state has reported a total of 19,366 cases.

At least 10,201 people have recovered from COVID in Delaware.
