The Green - August 14, 2020

Listen to this edition of The Green or individual segments below:

As fall approaches, questions about how schools will resume teaching kids here in the First State only seem to grow.

And largely the discussion in Delaware has focused on the state’s public schools and charters.  But they are not the only ones wrestling with this issue. Private schools also have decisions to make – and like their public school counterparts – there seem to be almost as many plans as there are schools.

This week, Delaware Public Media contributor Larry Nagengast looks at how those private school plans are coming together.

It has been a busy week in national politics.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee, selected Sen. Kamala Harris as his running mate – and introduced that pick here in the First State.

Meanwhile, talks between the White House and Congressional leaders on a new COVID-19 relief package remains stalled.

Delaware’s senior Senator Tom Carper joins us to discuss these topics and more.

Back in July, The Grand Opera House and the Riverfront Development Corporation teamed up to offer a drive-in concert series  on Wilmingtom’s Riverfront.

The goal was to fill the void left by events and activities canceled by the coronavirus pandemic.

In this week’s Arts Playlist, Delaware Public Media’s Kelli Steele interviews The Grand’s executive director Mark Fields and Riverfront Development Corporation’s marketing manager Joe Valenti about how they’ve done and plans to expand them.
