Delaware State Police have charged newly minted Dover City Councilman Tanner Polce with DUI and other traffic offenses over the Memorial Day weekend.
Polce - who won Dover’s First District city council seat in April - also serves as policy director for Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long.
DSP says Polce failed to stop at a stop sign on Route 71 near Lums Pond Sunday evening.
Another vehicle hit his car, sending two men to Christiana Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Polce wasn’t injured in the crash.
In a statement, Polce says he disputes the allegations and plans to fight the case.
"While I am pleased to learn there were no serious injuries, I am very disappointed that alcohol may have been a factor," said Keith Warren, Hall-Long's chief of staff.
State Rep. Sean Lynn (D-Dover), a local attorney, will represent Polce in court.
