Hall-Long adds her name to crowded race for Lt. Gov.

The Democratic Party primary for Lt. Gov. next year continues to grow.

State Sen. Bethany Hall-Long recently filed paperwork to enter the race, ending months of speculation about her intentions.

The already crowded field boasts four other candidates - including Kent County Commissioner Brad Eaby and Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Kathy McGuinness.

Former Sussex County Register of Wills Greg Fuller and current New Castle County Register of Wills Ciro Poppitti III are also vying for the vacant seat.

Attorney General Matt Denn left the office after taking over the state Department of Justice when the late Beau Biden did not seek reelection.

Hall-Long, a registered nurse and University of Delaware professor, has championed healthcare issues during her 12 years in the General Assembly.

She was also embroiled in controversy last year when her husband Dana was caught on video allegedly stealing Republican Party campaign signs during a tense re-election bid.  She eventually won that race by little more than 260 votes.
