Several incumbents fall in Dover city election

Dover City Council is getting a significant makeover following Tuesday night's election.

Council President David Bonar was beaten by Scott Cole for his seat in the third district by more than 17 points.

Recently retired Dover Police Chief James Hosfelt Jr.unseated Beverly Williams in the first district by nearly 20 percent of the vote.

Fourth district incumbent Wallace Dixon also lost his seat. Roy Sudler Jr. won a three-way race, also comfortably passing Dixon and Kenneth Roach.

Fred Neil won the vacant third district chair left by the state Rep. Sean Lynn (D-Dover) last fall. 

In an uncontested race, Brian Lewis takes over for Adam Perza in the second district after he announced he would not run for another term.

Mayor Robin Christiansen retains his seat by a large margin, edging out former mayor Carlton Carey Sr. and George Gaudioso.
