Sussex County gets two James Beard nominations

Credit: James Beard Foundation

Two of Delaware’s perennial culinary stars are getting a nod from the James Beard Foundation this year.

Sam Calagione, founder and president of Dogfish Head Brewery and Hari Cameron, head chef of a(MUSE.) in Rehoboth Beach are semifinalists for the prestigious James Beard Award.

It’s Calagione’s sixth straight nomination, though he’s never taken home the top prize despite earning finalist bragging rights five times.

Cameron earned a nomination for Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic for a second year in a row. It’s his third total James Beard recognition after being named a 2013 semifinalist in the rising star category.

The James Beard Award is the top award for food and drink industry professionals, similar to the Oscars or Tony awards.

Finalists will be announced March 15, with final prizes given during an awards ceremony May 2 in Chicago.
