Christiana Care Health System earned some high marks in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings of the nation’s top hospitals.
Christiana Care’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and its Section of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases both landed in the top 50 of those specialties nationwide.
The hospital was ranked 24th for Gynecology, up from 38th a year ago, and 33rd in Diabetes & Endocrinology .
The U.S, News and World Report rankings also rates Christina Care the top hospital in the First State and third among the 96 evaluated in the Philadelphia region. It was fifth in the Philly area a year ago.
The rankings are based on available data in a number of categories, including survival rates, patient safety, volume of procedures, and nursing care -- as well as reputation scores from a national survey of physicians.
