David Small was sworn in as secretary of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Wednesday.
The 56-year-old Small joined DNREC in 1987 as the chief of the Office of Information and Education. He has worked as deputy secretary for the past 13 years and has represented Delaware on the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.
Small currently serves on the Board of Directors of Wilmington’s Riverfront Development Corporation and the Greater Dover Boys and Girls Club.
Small is the state’s 10th DNREC secretary. He replaces Collin O’Mara, who left this week to become president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation.
You can hear an interview with O’Mara about his tenure leading DNREC this Friday at 3 pm on The Green.
