First State drivers got a bit of a break when they filled up their gas tanks last week.
AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in the Delaware Sunday was $3.57, from $3.460 a week ago.
That remains well below the national average, which is currently at $3.65 significantly higher than what Delawareans were paying a year ago when the average price per gallon for regular was $3.46.
AAA says prices will likely remain between $3.55 and $3.70 during the summer months, but notes they do tend to rise slightly after the July fourth holiday and into August.
Delawaregasprices.com reports a half dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $3.47 or less – all in the New Castle and Dover areas.
