A group which released a report about political contributions in Delaware on Tuesday now says it botched some of the figures.
Common Cause, a pro-transparency non-profit, had said AstraZeneca donated nearly $700,000 to political parties over the past five years.
However, they later rescinded that figure, saying it was a spreadsheet error. The corrected amount totaled $610,000 less than what they previously reported.
Common Cause’s Regional Director James Browning says despite the mistake, the overall message is the same.
“The question we are raising about simultaneous gifts to the state Democratic and state Republican parties is still there and they’re writing big checks within days or weeks of each other,” Browning said. “While we really regret the error, I think that fact and that question remains.”
In all, the study miscalculated the contributions of seven other groups throughout the state.
WDDE reported on parts of the study on Wednesday, but did not use any of the incorrect figures.
