Wilmington clinic closed over sterilization concerns

State health officials closed the Concord Medical Spine and Pain Center Wednesday after they say they couldn’t confirm proper sterilization practices.

The Division of Public Health inspected the center on Sharpley Road just off Concord Pike in North Wilmington Monday night and found that the company also wasn’t accredited by an independent body as required by law.

DPH officials say they’re not aware of any cases of blood-borne diseases coming from Concord Medical Spine and Pain Center, but are telling patients to get checked for hepatitis and HIV.

It’s the fourth business DPH has closed in the past five years.
