Sen. Carper among top-5 most popular senators

Delaware’s senior senator is among the most popular politicians in the country according to a new poll.

Sen. Tom Carper (D) ranks as the 4th most popular senator in the country according to new data from Morning Consult, an online polling and digital media company.

 

66 percent of Delawareans approve of Carper compared to just 18 percent who don’t.

 

Sen. Chris Coons (D) still ranked relatively high, with 58 percent of the state signing off on the job he’s doing. 20 percent still disapprove.

 

Vermonters far and away back their senator, Bernie Sanders (I), who just came off an unsuccessful bid for president.

 

87 percent of those in his home state approve of Sanders, ranking him 1st in the poll. Nearby, Maine Sen. Susan Collins (R) came in second, while John Thune, a Republican of South Dakota earned third place.

 

Rounding out the least popular senators – Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Pat Roberts (R-KS), Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), John McCain (R-AZ) and Marco Rubio (R-FL).
