Arctic front blows in cold weather

Delaware Public Media

A cold snap arrives in the First State Thursday, bringing frigid temperatures and maybe a bit of snow.

The National Weather Service's James Bunker said an arctic front moving down through Canada will make it feel like an icebox outside.

"We’re looking at lows in the low 20s tonight. Winds are also going to be picking up; we’re looking at winds 10-15 mph," Bunker said.

Bunker said there’s about a 30% chance for snow Wednesday night, with temperatures holding steady in the 20s for Thursday. Including wind chill, lows Thursday night could hit zero.

Temperatures are expected to hold in the 20s on Friday, with a 60% chance for snow in the evening.

"Basically you’re going to get (a) mixed bag of precipitation to start your weekend off. But as we get into Saturday night and Sunday things will warm back up," Bunker said.

On Sunday night temperatures could drop again into the middle 20s, with snow showers.
