Thanksgiving traffic rises again in First State

Delaware Public Media

First State highways saw another increase in traffic over the busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend this year

DelDOT says nearly million cars passed through the state’s toll plazas along I-95 and Route 1 between Wednesday and Sunday.

That was up 32,500 or 3 percent from last year and almost 26 percent than two years when nearly 945,000 cars were counted during the same five-day period.

The biggest increase came at the Route 1 toll plaza at Biddle’s Corner which saw around 24 thousand more vehicles pass through this year than in 2015.

The I-95 toll plaza in Newark saw traffic increase by about 13,000 cars this Thanksgiving.
