Another spot on Delaware’s highest court is available after Justice Jack B. Jacobs announced he’ll retire this summer.

But unlike earlier this year when he the post of Supreme Court Chief Justice post was open and the list of candidates was just four with the eventual choice Leo Strine as the clear frontrunner, Delaware Law Weekly reports there are seven applying to take Jacobs seat. And it’s uncertain which way Gov. Jack Markell may go in choosing a nominee.

Delaware Public Media contributor Jeff Mordock of Delaware Law Weekly visited The Green this week to look at the field of candidates and who may be at the top of the list. (More)

That paint scheme will be seen in Sunday’s Sprint Cup series race on the #36 car driven by Reed Sorenson, who took time to talk to The Green this week.

Enlighten Me: Delaware's only lavender farm is purple haven for visitors

[jwplayer config="jw-audio-only_post" mediaid="62687"]

This week’s Enlighten Me takes us to a unique venue in Sussex County

Lavender Fields is the only lavender farm in the First State. Last year about 20,000 people visited what one of the farm’s owners calls the adult version of a kids’ lemonade stand.

In addition to growing and selling lavender – the farm features award-winning dahlia gardens, bee hives and a shop which sells anything lavender.

Contributor Michael Short has more on the farm and its vibe in his piece and The Green visited the farm in Milton for a conversation with one of its owners, Marie Mayor. (More)
