Gas prices are up amid tensions in the Middle East

Delaware Public Media

Gas prices are up in Delaware according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.

The agency blames the increase on holiday travel and ongoing turmoil in the Middle East.

A gallon of regular in the First State stands at $2.43, compared to $2.40 a week ago.

AAA notes that while it expects prices to dip this month as demand decreases following the holiday season, higher oil prices may stunt the drop. AAA is watching the current situation in the Middle East to see its possible short- and long-term impact on crude oil and gasoline prices.

Prices are also up elsewhere in the region.  The average price for a gallon of regular in the Philadelphia-area is $2.75 today.  In South Jersey, it’s $2.56. And in Maryland, it’s $2.54.
