Gas prices up again in First State

Delaware Public Media

Prices at the pump in Delaware continue their steady rise.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular jumped another seven cents over the past seven days – from $2.02 to $2.09.

And fewer and fewer stations are offering prices below two dollars per gallon. Delawaresgasprices.com reports fewer than a dozen stations across the state are still selling regular for $1.98 or less.

But Delawareans are still paying 38 cents below the $2.46 were paying this time last year.

The average price nationwide also rose last week – up 2 cents from $2.11 to $2.13.

Despite the recent increases, AAA says drivers can expect to see the cheapest summertime prices in 12 years.  Analysts believe gas will hover above the $2 per gallon mark, but well below last year’s summer peak of $2.62 per gallon.
