The Delaware Symphony Orchestra has followed up signing a new collective bargaining agreement with its musicians with news it’s also locked up it’s music director long-term.
Music Director David Amado has agreed to an extension through the 2022-2023 season.
That season will be Amado’s 20th with the DSO.
“I am honored that the Delaware Symphony Association has such faith in my leadership and musicianship,” Amado said in a release. “I am delighted to continue this wonderful relationship with the talented musicians of the DSO, our committed staff, engaged board, and of course our wonderful community. I look forward to many more years of great, inspiring, and satisfying music-making.”
Amado has led the Delaware Symphony through ups and downs. He was Music Director in 2012 when the organization was forced to reduce its season due to financial constraints.
The DSO has been slowly expanding its programs ever since.
The Symphony opens its 2016-2017 season in late September with its classics series concert at The Grand Opera House in downtown Wilmington. Amado will be conducting.
