Three sculptures added to Delaware Art Museum's garden

Three newly-placed giants now cast shadows at the Delaware Art Museum’s Copeland Sculpture Garden. Two of the large-scale sculptures, Dream Stele by Bernie Felch and Circle of Lanes by Stan Smokler, are new acquisitions.

“They all engage the outdoor space in very different ways,” said Margaret Winslow, Delaware Art Museum's Curator for Contemporary Art.

The third, and biggest sculpture in the garden, is Electroglide  by David Stromeyer.

"It was previously in storage, but we have reinstalled it in the museum, following fresh conservation and a fresh coat of paint,” Winslow said.

Because of its sheer size, the piece was the last to be returned to the museum’s campus after a renovation.

The garden exhibit features 16 large-scale sculptures in all, dating from 1966 to 2011.

This piece is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
