First State gas prices slide for second straight week

First State drivers are getting a mid-summer break at the gas pump.

AAA Mid-Atlantic reports the average price for a gallon of regular in the Delaware dropped again over the last seven days. Sunday – the price stood at was $3.57 – down five cents from a week ago when it was $3.62. The First State average has fallen nine cents over the last two weeks.

Delaware’s are paying five cents below the national average, which fell four cents to $3.62 Sunday -- and they paying just two cents more than a year ago when the average price per gallon for regular was $3.55.

AAA officials say recent easing of crude oil prices may signal that prices at the pump have peaked for the summer. Triple-A notes that the national gas price average this week is the lowest since early April

Delaware-gas-prices-dot-com reports there are about a dozen stations selling a gallon of regular for $3.44 – all in the New Castle and Middletown areas.
