DelDOT road crews are gearing up some potentially nasty weather this evening Sussex and southern Kent Counties.
The National Weather Service is forecasting about two to five inches of snow with possible ice for the lower half of the state.
DelDOT Spokesman Jim Westoff says roughly 500 personnel are prepared to work this evening if necessary.
"Our trucks and are road people are ready and we’re watching the road temperatures so that when the road temperatures get close to freezing we’ll deploy are people to start putting down salt and perhaps even plowing the roads,” said Westoff.
Because of rain through out the day, Westoff says DelDOT has not been able to pretreat roads with salt. He recommends commuters to finish away-from-home errands early this evening to reduce traffic during the incliment weather.
