The family of a deceased former Frankford resident donated 160 acres of Sussex County land to Delaware Wild Lands for permanent preservation.
Delaware Wild Lands plans to use the 160-acre parcel of land for habitat restoration.
The land conservation group says it will expand on their conservation of the Great Cypress Swamp.
Delaware Wild Lands owns more than 10,000 acres of remaining swamp land there. That land straddles the southern edge of Sussex County and Maryland.
The property was donated by the family of the late Nancy Smoot - who used to live in Frankford. The donated land connects to land already owned by Delaware Wild Lands.
Delaware Wild Lands currently owns and manages over 20,000 acres of land in all three Delaware counties.
