NASCAR's fall weekend in Dover concludes Sunday

Delaware Public Media

The fall NASCAR race weekend at Dover International Speedway wraps up today with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup "Drydene 400."

Denny Hamlin won the pole Saturday and set a record for fastest qualifying lap on the Monster Mile.  Kyle Larson was second and joins Hamlin on the front row.

Both drivers are among those still in contention in the Cup series playoffs – which starts the Round of 12 this week. Neither Hamlin nor Larson have won in Dover.

Today’s race gets underway at 2:30 pm.  It’s the 100th Cup series race at the Monster Mile - making Dover one of only 10 tracks all-time to host 100 races.

In addition to qualifying for Sunday’s race, Saturday’s action at Dover saw Cole Custer win the XFINITY series Use Your Melon Drive Sober 200.
