It's Night 1 of the July Democratic Presidential debates. Ten candidates are each making the case that they should be the next president of the United States. 10 more will have their chance Wed. night.

This round of debates could be crucial for a number of candidates trying to gain traction. The next scheduled debates in Sept. have a higher qualification bar to clear and, as NPR reports, will likely limit the number of people on stage.
Tuesday night's first debate in Detroit runs from 8 to 10 ET each night. Moderators will be CNN's Dana Bash, Don Lemon and Jake Tapper.
The candidates for the first night are: South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, former Maryland Rep. John Delaney, former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke, Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and author Marianne Williamson.
