Delaware State University’s Class of 1965 has given their alma mater a record donation.
That alumni class presented the school $104,000 during a reception hosted by DSU President Harry L. Williams during its recent 50th anniversary celebration.

It’s the largest gift ever given to the school by a single alumni class.
A total of 62 people contributed to the fundraising drive raising to come up with the record gift. The original goal was to get 20 members of the class to give $5,000 each to reach $100,000.
"This is historic, because you made a commitment and you exceeded it," said Williams. “This gift is not only tremendously remarkable as a reflection of your love for your alma mater, but also as a new standard for alumni support of DSU.”
In a statement, class member Carolyn Golden Hebsgaard said, “It is our hope that our efforts will inspire other alumni to share our spirit in creating a culture of giving for the University.”
