Wreaths Across America to stop in Smyrna

A convoy of thousands of wreaths honoring fallen soldiers will make its way through the First State on its way to Arlington National Cemetery.

A group of 18-wheelers will from Maine to Washington D.C. as part of Wreaths Across America. It stops in Smyrna Dec. 15.

Judy Campbell with the Delaware Vietnam Veterans Association said the ceremony will honor gold star families who have lost loved ones in combat.

"There have been so many sacrifices by so many extraordinary, exceptional individuals to secure and protect each of us," Campbell said.

Statewide law enforcement and the Dover High School Jr. ROTC will be on hand for event at the Smyrna rest area off Route 1 and Route 13 at 11 a.m.

National Wreaths Across America Day is Dec. 17.
