You should expect delays for the foreseeable future if you take the train between Wilmington and Philadelphia.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA)announced this weekend that it’s taking all of its Silverliner V train cars out of service for emergency repairs. These trains make up a third of SEPTA’s rail fleet.
The rail authority discovered structural cracks Friday morning on the Silverliner V trains’ main suspension systems. Shortly after, it pulled all 120 of its Silverliner Vs trains from service.
The Newark/Wilmington line be running on a modified schedule, with rush hour trains running at 30 minute intervals.
Weekend and holiday rail travel will not be affected because there are enough trains to handle that capacity.
Where possible, SEPTA encourages Regional Rail riders to use alternative transit modes, including buses, trolleys and subways.
SEPTA says it’s unclear when the trains will be back in service.
