Tanger Outlets national PinkSTYLE campaign raised $11,000 for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.
Beginning in September customers could purchase a savings pass valid at participating stores. Money raised benefited breast cancer organizations in local communities as well as nationally through the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Beth Krallis, a spokesperson for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition says the money raised by the Rehoboth Beach Tanger Outlets will support a wide range of services.
“We have peer mentoring programs where we’ll match up a newly diagnosed patient with a trained survivor who has been on a similar journey and also teach them about clinical trials, we also have a contract to operate the mobile mammography van to screen women in need and that’s just some of our programs." she says.
Krallis adds DBCC also helps women with low incomes and those with little or no insurance receive free or reduced-cost care.
Amy Norgate, General Manager of Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach says the non-profit group does important work.
“They’re all about the early detection and treatment of breast cancer, " she says. "It’s such a great organization and they know how to mobilize volunteers and get the word out. We just love their energy and commitment.”
She adds that Doris Tanger, the mother of the CEO of the company, is a 30-year survivor of breast cancer. Since 1994, Tanger has raised just over 15 million dollars for breast cancer research nationally.
